In an Oregon courtroom, “Home Improvement” actor Zachery Ty Bryan made a guilty plea on Wednesday for the charge of felony assault in the fourth degree, which falls under the category of domestic violence.

Lane County chief deputy district attorney Chris Parosa reportedly confirmed that Bryan will only serve seven days in jail instead of the originally anticipated 19 to 20 months in the Oregon Department of Corrections. This reduced sentence comes as part of a negotiated resolution, which resulted in the dismissal of the second count of assault in the fourth degree.

In July, a 42-year-old man named Bryan was taken into custody following a reported physical domestic altercation with an unidentified woman. In a recent development, he has been officially charged with two counts of assault in the fourth degree.

According to Parosa, the negotiated resolution involved the dismissal of the second count and an agreement to a ‘7D’ gridblock on the Oregon felony sentencing guidelines. This gridblock typically results in a presumptive sentence of 19 to 20 months in the Oregon Department of Corrections.

In a recent statement, Parosa further confirmed that the seven-day jail sentence will include credit for time already served. It is worth noting that this credit may have already been fulfilled.

In a recent development, Bryan has been granted a “downward dispositional departure” resulting in a sentence of 36 months of supervised probation. This probation comes with standard domestic violence conditions, which include strict guidelines such as obtaining approval from the probation officer before contacting the victim, mandatory treatment for alcohol/substance abuse as directed by the probation officer, and a complete prohibition on alcohol and drugs.

During the statement, Parosa also mentioned that if Mr. Bryan fails to fulfil the requirements of his probation, he will be summoned to appear in court again, potentially facing a prison sentence of 19 to 20 months, which had previously been suspended by the court.In a recent development, it has come to light that Bryan, who was previously arrested in 2020, has entered a guilty plea. The charges stem from an altercation with his girlfriend, Johnnie Faye Cartwright, where he allegedly attempted to strangle her at their apartment in Eugene, Oregon.

In 2021, when pleading guilty, he minimised the domestic violence charges and asserted in a recent interview that the incident had been exaggerated.

The physicality of the encounter was minimal. The noise level escalated significantly. According to Bryan, he recounted to The Hollywood Reporter that they were screaming, and due to the townhome’s thin walls, their voices carried and could be heard by everyone.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bryan alleged in the police report that Cartwright assaulted him and orchestrated a plan to sabotage his professional life.

Bryan, known for his role as Brad Taylor, portrayed the eldest son of Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor, a character brought to life by Tim Allen, on the widely acclaimed sitcom that aired from 1991 to 1999. Bryan, who has been sporadically involved in acting since then, notably appeared in the 2006 film “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift” and, more recently, in “The Guardians of Justice.”
