Don Meon – American Singer, Guitarist, and Writer of Christian Worship Music

Donald James Moen, better known as Don Moen, is an American singer, guitarist, and writer of Christian worship music. He was born on June 29, 1950.

Early Life

Moen was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He went to high school there in 1968.Moen went to Oral Roberts University, which is a Christian school for fine arts. Moen married Laura in 1973.

Career

He joined Terry Law Ministries as a Living Sound drummer and went on the road with Terry Law for ten years. After that, he worked for Integrity Media for more than 20 years. He was creative director and president of Integrity Music, head of Integrity Label Group, and an executive producer of Integrity Music albums. In December 2007, he left Integrity Media to start a new project called The Don Moen Company. The church software company that made MediaShout, MediaComplete, was bought by the Don Moen Company. In 2009, Moen started hosting the radio show Don Moen & Friends. Moen was nominated for nine awards for his songs and won a Dove Award for his work on the show God with Us.

Moen also worked with Claire Cloninger, Paul Overstreet, Martin J. Nystrom, Randy Rothwell, Ron Kenoly, Bob Fitts, Debbye Graafsma, Paul Baloche, and Tom Brooks, among many others. Justo Almario, Carl Albrecht, Abraham Laboriel, Alex Acua, Paul Jackson Jr., Lenny LeBlanc, and Chris Graham were among the singers he worked with.[needs reference] He gave Paul Baloche, Darlene Zschech, Israel Houghton, and Hillsong United their first big breaks.

He made 11 worship records as part of the Hosanna! Music series. Worship with Don Moen, his first record under his own name, came out in 1992. His song has sold more than five million copies around the world.

Moen and Lenny LeBlanc singing together Moen’s first album for Hosanna! The label’s best-selling album was Music, Give Thanks. Give Thanks was made by Tom Brooks, and the RIAA gave it a Gold rating. Moen then made his own records, like En Tu Presencia and Trono De Gracia, which were both in Spanish. The Dove Award for Best Musical went to God with Us. During a tour of Asia in 1999, he taped The Mercy Seat at Singapore Indoor Stadium and Heal Our Land at Yoido Park in South Korea. Both were released in 2000. I Will Sing, one of Moen’s records, was made at the Christian Broadcasting Network.

God Will Make a Way: The Best of Don Moen came out in 2003. It has 19 of his most popular songs. The title song was written for his brother-in-law and his brother-in-law’s wife, whose oldest son died in a car accident and whose other three children were badly hurt but lived. Moen’s first studio album was called Hiding Place. It was made at Paragon Studios in Franklin, Tennessee, and came out in the fall of 2006. Late in 2008, I Believe There Is More came out. His third studio album, Uncharted Territory, came out on March 27, 2012. It was successfully funded through Kickstarter. Christmas: A Season of Hope, his Christmas album, came out on October 22, 2012. Some of the songs on it were recorded in a studio in the Czech Republic. Moen put out Hymnbook as a way to celebrate his Facebook page getting more than 1 million likes.
