George S. Clason- Author of Richest Man In Babylon

On November 7, 1874, George Samuel Clason was born in Louisiana, Missouri. He went to college at the University of Nebraska and then joined the army to fight in the Spanish-American War. He started the Clason Map Company in Denver, Colorado, and produced the first road atlas of the United States and Canada.

He was a successful businessman. In 1926, he published the first of a famous series of papers about saving money and making money. To make each point, he used stories from ancient Babylon. These were given out in large numbers by banks and insurance companies.

Millions of people read them, and “The Richest Man in Babylon,” the tale from which this book gets its name, became the most well-known. These “Babylonian parables” have become a modern favorite for giving advice on how to live.
