Owen Omogiafo- Business Leader and Planner ‘President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (Transcorp)’

Owen Diana Omogiafo is a business leader and planner from Nigeria. His mother’s name is Elaiho, and he was born on May 28, 1980. She is the President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (Transcorp), which is a diversified conglomerate with key interests in the Power, Hospitality, and Oil and Gas sectors.

Educational Background

Owen Omogiafo was born in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, on May 28, 1980. She went to the University of Benin and got a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Anthropology with high honors. She went to the Lagos Business School and the IESE Business School in Spain. She has a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

She is a member of the UK’s Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, and the US’s Prosci Institute has certified her as a change manager. She is a part of the Institute of Directors (IoD) Nigeria.

Owen has had a variety of jobs, such as Director of Human Resources at Heirs Holdings, Chief of Staff, Human Resource Advisor to the GMD/CEO at United Bank for Africa (UBA), and Organisation and Human Performance Consultant at Accenture, where he specialized in Change Management.

Career

Owen started her work as a stockbroker. Later, she moved to banking and took on different jobs in Operations, Service Quality Management, and Relationship Management. Before she joined UBA, she worked for Accenture, where she worked on a wide range of projects and clients in both the private and public sectors.

Heirs Holdings Limited and the Tony Elumelu Foundation

Owen worked for Heirs Holdings in many different roles, including as the Director of Resources, which meant he was in charge of setting up systems for the best use of people and machines within the Heirs Holdings Group. She was also the Chief Operating Officer at the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF), where she worked with the CEO and the Board to run a $100 million program to find, train, and fund 10,000 entrepreneurs over a 10-year period.

Transcorp Corporation of Nigeria Plc (Transcorp)

In July 2018, she started working for Transcorp as the Executive Director of Corporate Services. She was later named the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Transcorp Hotels Plc, in charge of running the main Transcorp Hilton Abuja and Transcorp Hotels Calabar.

In March 2020, she was named President and Chief Executive Officer of Transcorp. After being given the job, she became the youngest CEO on the Nigerian Stock Exchange and the first woman to hold the post at Transcorp Group.

Owen is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Association of Power Generation Companies (APGC) in Nigeria. This is an organization for power generation companies that represents the interests of developers and users of independent energy facilities.[17][18] She is a Non-Executive Director at several companies, including Transcorp Power Limited, Transcorp Hotels Plc, and Avon Healthcare Limited, where she sits on the Board’s Finance, Investment & Risk Committee and Audit & Governance Committee.

Owen is married to Osato Omogiafo, and the two of them have three kids.
