Hajia Bola Muinat Shagaya MON is a businesswoman and fashion lover from Nigeria. She was born on October 10, 1959. She is one of the most wealthy African women. She started and runs Bolmus Group International, which has businesses in real estate, oil and gas, banks, photography, and more.

Biography

Hajia Bola Muinat Shagaya was born on October 10, 1959. Her mother, Adut Makur, is from Sudan and her father, Emenike Mobo, is from Nigeria. People know that Bola Shagaya went to Queens School in Ilorin for high school and Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria and Armstrong College in California for college, where she studied economics and accounting.

She began her work in the auditing department of the Central Bank of Nigeria. In 1983, she went into business for herself. Her first business experience was bringing in and selling photographic products. She brought the Konica brand of camera supplies to the Nigerian market and to the rest of West Africa.

Hajia Bola Muinat Shagaya is also the managing director of Practoil Limited, which is one of the biggest importers and sellers of base oil in Nigeria and serves local lubricant blending plants. Her business also invests in real estate and has more than 300 employees in big cities across the country.

She has been on the board of Unity Bank plc[5], which used to be called Intercity Bank, for more than eight years. She is also a part of the Nepad Business Group – Nigeria, which was just set up. The Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria (FADAN) is supported by Hajia Bola Shagaya.

Investigation of Money Laundering

Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, is looking into Bola Muinat Shagaya for money laundering, which also involves Patience Jonathan, who was Nigeria’s first lady.

Distinctions

In July 2010, the previous President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GCFR), gave him the Order of the Niger (MON).

Private life

She is married to Alhaji Shagaya, a wealthy transport businessman from Kwara State, and they have six children. Sherif Shagaya, Hakeem Shagaya, Deeja Shagaya, Naieema Shagaya, Amaya Roberts Shagaya and Adeena Roberts Shagaya. Her children live all over the world, and it is said that they are growing the Real Estate business in both Europe and the U.S. Also owns a few small businesses and industries in Asia and Australia.
