Nathaniel Bassay- Nigerian Gospel Singer And Trumpeter

Nathaniel Bassey is a Nigerian singer, preacher, trumpeter, and gospel songwriter. His songs “Imela,” “Onise Iyanu,” and “Olowogbogboro” are among his most well-known works. He goes to The Redeemed Christian Church of God and is the leader of The Oasis Lagos, The Youth Church of the RCCG Kings Court in VI, Lagos.

Before he went to London to study politics, the gospel minister studied international relations and politics at the University of Lagos. Nathaniel Bassey won the City People Music Award for Gospel Artist of the Year.

Early Life

Bassey was born in Nigeria in 1981. He was born in Lagos. He is from Ikot Ofon Ikono, Uyo local government area, Akwa-Ibom state, south-south Nigeria. His father, Mr. E. Joshua Bassey, was a pastor in the Apostolic Church Bashua Assembly. At the University of Lagos, he studied foreign politics and politics. After that, he moved to London to study politics. On the other hand, he went to the Middlesex University Summer School to study singing.

Music Career

Nathaniel started making music in the church, where he played the trumpet for two years with the Rhodes Orchestra. He was just a regular trumpet player until he wrote a song for the late wife of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Stella Obasanjo, when he went to see her. In 2018, Bassey was one of the most popular artists at T, Experience, a Nigerian Christian meeting. In 2008, he recorded and mixed his first album, Elohim, in Cape Town, South Africa. People have called it a spiritual and artistic masterpiece with the hit song “Someone’s Knocking at the Door,” a soft-rock song that is getting a lot of attention locally and abroad right now.

Nathaniel started the #HallelujahChallenge in June 2017, where he and other Christians praise God for an hour, from 12:00 am to 1:00 am. He streams this event on Instagram and asks other people to watch with him. In less than a month, more than 600,000 people watched the event. From February 4 to 24, 2020, the #HallelujahChallenge took place. From February 1 to February 21, 2021, the task took place.
